3 Shea Butter Recipes for Dry Skin
1. DIY Shea Butter Facial Moisturizer
* safe for sensitive and acne prone skin
What you need
- 3 tbsp shea butter (where to get it)
- 1 tbsp aloe vera gel (where to get it)
- 7 drops geranium oil (where to get it)
- Magic Bullet blender (where to get it)
- Sterilized round salve tin (where to get it)
- Add all the ingredients except the essential oil into the Magic Bullet.
- Blend till white and creamy.
- Transfer to the salve tin then stir in the essential oil using a chopstick.
- Let it set in the refrigerator for an hour before use.
2. Dry Skin Nourishing Body Lotion
What you need
- 3 tbsp unrefined shea butter (where to get it)
- 2 tbsp cocoa butter (get it here)
- ¼ cup coconut oil (where to get it)
- 1 tsp jojoba oil (where to get it)
- 2 vitamin E capsules (get it here)
- 1 tsp aloe vera gel (where to get it)
- 7-12 drops lavender oil (where to get it)
- Double boiler (where to get it)
- Hand mixer (where to get it)
- Storage container (where to get it)
- Melt the cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil using a double boiler.
- Once melted, pour in the aloe vera gel and jojoba oil. Then snip off the edges of the vitamin E capsules and squeeze out the oil into the melted oils.
- Stir well and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- When the time is up, get it out and beat the mixture using a hand mixer for 2-3 minutes.
- Stop when you get a creamy white mixture.
- Transfer into a clean container then stir in the essential oils using a chopstick.
- It lasts 2 years but make sure to store it away from water and contamination!
3. DIY Shea Butter Face Wash for Dry Skin
What you need
- ¼ cup liquid castile soap (where to get it)
- 1 tsp shea butter (where to get it)
- 1 tbsp vegetable glycerin (where to get it)
- ½ cup distilled water (where to get it)
- 8 drops lavender oil (where to get it)
- Foaming soap dispenser (where to get it)
- Pyrex measuring cup (where to get it)
- Put the shea butter and vegetable glycerin into the foaming soap dispenser.
- Then measure out and pour the liquid castile soap and distilled water into the dispenser.
- Close the bottle and shake well to combine.
- To use, pump onto your palm, rub together then lather up your face. Rinse off with warm water then apply moisturizer.
- Use twice: morning and night.
